Fasteners that keep water out,
and keep pressure in.
Sealing and waterproof screws combine a precision fastener with an elastomer O-ring or underhead seal, delivering IP67/IP68-rated joints for enclosures, battery packs and outdoor electronics — without a separate gasket around every screw.
One screw, one seal, zero leaks
A sealing screw traps an elastomer ring in a machined groove under the head or between the threads and the flange. As the fastener is torqued, the ring compresses against the housing face to block water, dust and pressure differentials — replacing a multi-part gasket stack with a single, repeatable joint.
- O-ring and underhead seal designs for flat or cast surfaces
- IP67 (1 m / 30 min) and IP68 (3 m / 72 h) qualified joints
- NBR, EPDM and FKM seal compounds for temperature and media
- Stainless A2/A4 and plated steel bodies for outdoor service
- Controlled compression torque for consistent sealing pressure
Seal compounds, materials & verified ingress
Ingress ratings below are for completed joints tested per IEC 60529 on representative housings — the seal, groove and housing flatness must be specified together for the rating to hold in production.
Material & seal options
| Body / seal | Class | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| 10B21 steel + zinc-nickel | Plated | Indoor-to-outdoor enclosures, 96 h salt spray |
| A2 / A4 stainless | Corrosion resistant | Marine, outdoor, medical |
| NBR seal | General purpose | -30 °C to 100 °C, water and dust |
| EPDM / FKM seal | High performance | -40 °C to 150 °C, UV and chemical resistance |
Size range & performance
| Parameter | Typical value | Test |
|---|---|---|
| Thread sizes | M3 – M12 | Custom per drawing |
| Ingress protection | IP67 / IP68 | IEC 60529 |
| Pressure differential | Up to 0.5 bar | Air leak test |
| Seal compression | 15% – 30% of cross-section | Groove design |
| Recommended torque | Per thread size | Torque to seal |

Outdoor, submerged, pressure-tight
- EV battery packs and power electronics enclosures
- Outdoor lighting, signage and telecom cabinets
- Wearable and handheld devices exposed to rain and washdown
- Marine and off-highway equipment facing spray and humidity
A sealing screw eliminates the need to place a gasket under every fastener head — one controlled-compression joint per location, validated as an assembly, not just as a part.

View familySealing screw questions we hear most
No — the screw seals its own location. An enclosure reaches IP67/IP68 only when every opening (gasket, cable gland, every screw) is sealed and tested together. We design the screw to your housing flatness and groove, then qualify the completed assembly to the rating you need.
NBR covers most indoor and general outdoor use. Choose EPDM for UV, ozone and wider temperature range; FKM for chemical and high-temperature service. Tell us the media, temperature and cycle life and we will specify the compound and groove geometry.
The fastener itself is reusable, but the elastomer ring takes a permanent compression set. For safety-critical or IP-rated assemblies we recommend replacing the seal (or the screw, when the seal is integral) after a specified number of service cycles.
