Threads in plastic
that do not strip out.

Tapping a plastic boss is a guarantee of early failure. The right threaded insert gives a metal thread in PEEK, PA, PPS or ABS that survives a lifetime of assembly cycles.

A metal thread where the resin alone cannot hold

Engineering plastics are strong but soft under repeated torque. A molded-in, heat-set or ultrasonic insert fuses into the boss, distributing load into the surrounding plastic and resisting pull-out and torque-out. We supply knurled and grooved brass inserts plus stainless versions for demanding housings, and advise on wall thickness and boss design.

  • Heat-set, ultrasonic and press-in inserts for every housing process
  • Brass and austenitic stainless inserts in M2-M10
  • Diamond-knurl and axial-groove forms for torque and pull-out resistance
  • Boss and wall-thickness guidance to avoid sink marks and cracking

FAQ

Plastic insert questions we hear most

Heat-set suits most thermoplastics in production; ultrasonic suits high volumes and tight cavities. We will match the insert knurl and energy director to your process and resin.

Rule of thumb is a wall around 1.5 to 2x the insert diameter, with controlled material around the knurl. We review your boss drawing to avoid sink and cracking.

Yes - that is the point. A proper metal insert is rated for dozens of assembly cycles, while a tapped plastic boss strips after a handful.

Designing a plastic housing that must not strip?

Send the resin, boss size and assembly cycles - we will specify the insert type, material and knurl to hold.
